Covenant Finishes 3rd in the VIC

Covenant claimed third place in the VIC Tournament on Feb. 12, finishing behind first place LCA and second place Hargrave Military Academy. The Eagles had eight wrestlers place top four in the tournament, including two champions: Paul Huemme (103) and Josiah Zodhiates (135).   Paul won 6-3 over LCA’s Brady Leffew in the finals after having lost to Leffew earlier in the season.  Josiah dominated his weight class, winning 12-3 over Christian Mitchell of Hargrave in the finals.  Other Covenant wrestlers earning top four finishes were: Jamie Wilcox (112) – 3^rd place, Nathan Sieminski (130) – 2^nd place, David Widder-Varhegyi (145) – 2^nd place, Josh Braden (152) – 4^th place, David Collmus (189) – 4^th place, and Matt Worley (215) – 4^th place.   Head Coach Colin Anderson was honored with the Coach of the Year award.  The Eagles will compete in the State Tournament at the Siegel Center in Richmond on Feb. 18-19.
